ATLANTA (AP) — State labor officials say Georgia's unemployment rate has dropped to 5.6 percent, its lowest level since March 2008.

The Georgia Department of Labor on Thursday announced the new rate, which is the seasonally adjusted number for November. The 5.6 percent jobless rate is down from 6.7 percent from a year ago.

State Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said in a statement that Georgia employers created 3,700 jobs in November, which helped drive the unemployment rate down.
