Boy Scouts of America corporate trademark

Yellow River District Cub Scouts are hosting a free day camp Saturday, July 16, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Elks Aidmore in Conyers.

Rockdale and Newton County families with children rising into kindergarten through fifth grades are invited to participate in the free camp.

Thanks to generous local sponsorships, admission and all events this year are free. Among the activities will be an archery range, BB range, fishing, nature hikes and fire building.

Cub Scouts, a component of Scouts BSA, uses outdoor programs to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes through character development, leadership development, citizenship training, and personal fitness, according to information from the organization.
