Anyone interested in applying to be an extra should send an e-mail to Extras Casting Director Marty Cherrix at vampirediariescasting@gmail.com.
Applicants should send a recent photograph and include their name, age, height, weight, clothing size, and phone number.
"Vampire Diaries" held an open casting call last July, but Cherrix said previous applicants are welcome to send an updated photograph. Cherrix said the show is looking for extras of all types and ages. All extras will be non-speaking background parts. Applicants will receive an e-mail containing more information about the process of being an extra.
The pay rate is $7.25 per hour, plus overtime pay for those who more work more than 8 hours per day.
Cherrix said several hundred residents have been employed as paid extras so far. "Vampire Diaries," which appears on The CW network, is filming in several locations in the east Atlanta area.
In October, "Vampire Diaries" was been picked up for a full season. The show was originally scheduled for a 12-episode run, with an additional nine episodes to be picked up if the ratings were good. According to Entertainment Weekly's Web-site, the show had The CW's best-ever premiere ratings and Reuter's reported that the show was averaging 4.5 million viewers, making it the network's most-watched show.
