This is just a great time of year. Really, there is little to complain about. The weather is perfect and I love spending time outdoors in the cooler temperatures.

I always look forward to cooler fall weather and watching leaves change from the green of summer to autumn reds, oranges and yellows. There's a lot to do once fall arrives — from fairs and festivals of all kinds, taking a little drive north to enjoy the beautiful colors of fall, getting apples and pumpkins and enjoying football games.

However, the problem with all these great things is that fall doesn’t last long enough. Thus far, though, it sure has been an interesting season. Hurricane Matthew made a mess of everything last week, sending the entire east coast into chaos. My prayers continue to go out to everyone affected by that storm. Hurricane Matthew's fury may have shaken things up a bit but it didn't put a damper on everything.

A few football games had to be rescheduled with Georgia and South Carolina playing a Sunday game. I sure am glad I wasn't there for that game — just hearing that gamecock screeching and fussing on TV was enough to annoy me. Thankfully, my two favorite teams — UGA and the Tennessee —not only have well-behaved but downright cute mascots. You have to admit a dog just makes a cuter mascot than a bird, bee and certainly an alligator!

Tennessee has me a little worried — both about their season and Coach Buck Jones. He was doing his share of fussing during their face-off with Texas A&M. He seems to be a pretty good coach but I'm scared that man is gonna have a heart attack before this season is over.

Speaking of screeching and fussing, it seems like there's been a lot of that on TV, too. I know I speak for all of you when I say I will be glad when this election is over. All I'm going to say about that subject is our country needs prayers now more than ever. When you cast your vote, remember Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton aren't the only choices out there.

All this madness might do a number on us all before it's over but perhaps the best thing to do is take it in stride and ride the storm out with a lot if prayer.
