Willie James Ashby

Mr. Willie James Ashby died Aug. 25. The son of the late Mr. Jimmy Cliff Ashby and Mrs. Lillie B. Ashby, he was born in 1936 in Newton County. He joined Bethabara Missionary Baptist Church at an early age.

Surviving are wife Mrs. Dorothy Ann Ashby; daughters Ms. Deborah Ashby, Ms. Sandra Ann Ashby, Ms. Deborah Henderson, Ms. Tracy Rogers, Mr. and Mrs. Shawn (Brenda) Geddis; sons Mr. and Mrs. Michael Smith, Mr. Ronnie Henderson, Mr. Willie Rogers; sisters Ms. Betty D. Webb, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie (Robertine) Shepherd, Mr. and Mrs. Augustus (Mary) Lett, Mr. and Mrs. Tully (Sadie) Bostick, Ms. Janet Love, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin (Shirley) Williams; brothers Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Leon (Phyllis) Ashby, Mr. and Mrs. Larry (Sherry) Ashby; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Ms. Mattie Lee Flanigan; brother-in-law Mr. Harry hale; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were held Aug. 28 at Bethabara Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Harold Harris officiating.
