Thomas Howard Parham III

Mr. Thomas Howard "Tommy" Parham III, 60, of Oxford died Thursday, Feb. 28. Mr. Parham was born August 14, 1947 in Bibb County to the late Thomas Howard Parham, Jr., and Dorothy Rebecca LaFavre Parham. He was a longtime resident of Newton County, attended Red Oak United Methodist Church, served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and was a Boy Scout leader.

 

Mr. Parham is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Marie and Lee Hollis of Oxford, son Thomas Parham IV of Covington, grandchildren Thomas Parham V and Cheyenne Maxwell. Also surviving Mr. Parham are his sisters and brothers-in-law Kay and Jim Starkey of Marietta, Deborah and Jerry Wall of Warner Robins and four nephews.

 

Graveside services for Mr. Parham will be held tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Lawnwood Memorial Park with the Rev. Tom Rodriguez officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Thoughts on 9/11

This could be one of those generational things perhaps, but I think it's more in the way of a universal matter of compassion, awareness and plain shock that transcends any era. It's a simple question really, but riveting in its directness - do you remember where you were when you heard about the 9/11 attacks? Sept. 11, 2001 - a day containing events so unimaginable, they still defy comprehension.
