Mr. Roy William "Nip" Heard died July 21. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence (Minnie Price) Heard, he was born in 1924 in Newton County. He grew up in Newton County and Joined Pleasant View Baptist Church at an early age. He was preceded in death by children Mr. Willie James Heard and Ms. Louise Heard Kimble.

Surviving are loving wife of 64 years Mrs. Elizabeth Grand Heard; daughter Mr. and Mrs. Raymond (Ruby) Henderson; 13 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Ms. Lola Price Grant; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. July 27 at Pleasant View Baptist Church with the Rev. Camile Holmes officiating.
