A man and woman were reportedly found dead at a residence in The Falls subdivision at 695 Freeman Drive Tuesday night in what investigators believe to be a double homicide.

Newton County Sheriff's Department Lt. Bill Watterson said investigators received the call around 9:26 p.m. after one of the victims failed to show up for work. A search of the woman's home revealed the two bodies. Both victims were reportedly in their 30s, Watterson said.

Although specific details of the case, including cause of death and the victim's names, are being withheld, Watterson said there was no sign of forced entry into the home and it did not appear drugs were involved.

"Investigators worked through the night on the case," Watterson said.

Tuesday's murders brought the total number of homicides for 2008 in Newton County to four.
