Milton Hillard Shirley, 63, of Monticello, died Feb. 5 at his residence. Mr. Shirley was born in Oconee County, S.C., where he lived until the age of 14. After leaving South Carolina, he lived in Florida until moving to Jasper County over 40 years ago. His parents were the late Jesse Shirley and Ruby Burton Shirley. After 34 years, Mr. Shirley retired from the Hercules Plant in Covington. He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Surviving are wife Mary Ann Douglas Shirley of Monticello; daughter and son-in-law Melissa Ann and Robert Harbin of Monticello); son and daughter-in-law Dale and Lori Shirley of Mansfield; grandchildren Bryan Shirley, Dylan Hedrick, Halley Hedrick; brother AD Shirley of Dahlonega.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, at Jordan Funeral Home with Dr. Jeff Perkins officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 6, at Jordan Funeral Home, Monticello.
