Mrs. Mary Alice Laseter, 71, of Covington, died Nov. 17. The daughter of the late H.C. McElroy Sr. and Ruth Lullyne Deal McElroy, she was born in DeKalb County. She was a member of Starrsville United Methodist Church and also attended Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church. Mrs. Laseter worked at the Fulton National Bank of Atlanta, and she opened the first branch of the First Bank of Conyers on Ga. Highway 138. She was vice president of the Bank of Mansfield. Mrs. Laseter was preceded in death by brother David McElroy.

Surviving are husband Jack A. Laseter of Covington; daughter and son-in-law Pam and Mike Murphy of Covington; son and daughter-in-law Todd and Tina Laseter of Athens; grandchildren Jill and Alison Murphy, Zane and Kade Laseter; brothers and sisters-in-law H.C. Jr. and Dorothy Ann McElroy of Snellville, George Thomas and Janice McElroy of McDonough, Myrium McElroy of Conyers; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Max and Runelle Laseter of Monroe, Jo and Gary Tucker of Marietta; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Nov. 19 in the chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, with the Rev. Josh Roberts officiating. Interment followed at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church Cemetery, Monroe.
