Authorities released the name of the Riverdale man charged with murdering one man and injuring two others at a Newton County residence Tuesday afternoon.

Delaney Douglas Robinson, 22, was arrested by Newton County Sheriff's Office deputies moments after shooting three men with a handgun at 86 Kirkland Road sometime before 2:45 p.m., according to NCSO investigator Sgt. Sonny Goodson.

After shooting the victims, who ranged in age from 17 to 20 years old, Robinson reportedly went across the street and called 911 from the New Rock Day Center, a rehabilitation center run by the Gwinnett-Rockdale-Newton Community Service Board, where he was arrested without resistance.

One of the shot men died before first responders arrived and the other two were brought to Atlanta Medical Center by ambulance and by life-flight.

Goodson said while the investigation was still in the early stages, he was not aware of any drugs or alcohol being involved. It was still not confirmed if or how the victims knew the shooter.

Deputies were able to recover the murder weapon as well as several spent rounds at the crime site, Goodson said.

Robinson is currently in custody at the Newton County Detention Center and charged with felony murder, murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and aggravated assault.

Authorities are withholding the deceased victim's name until next-of-kin are notified.
