Kerri LeAnn Mincy, 16, of Monticello, died Sept. 30 in Covington. Born in Henry County, she was an eleventh-grade student at Jasper County High School. While attending Piedmont Academy, she played softball. She was an active member of New Rocky Creek Baptist Church and the New Rocky Creek Teen Ministry. People were drawn to Kerri's glowing, winsome personality. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. She loved children and animals and expressed a genuine concern and compassion for everyone. She was instrumental in influencing her family to come to know Jesus Christ as their personal savior. Her hobbies included fishing, hunting, swimming, camping and being with her friends. She will be sorely missed by family and friends.

Surviving are parents Ronnie Lawrence and Kathy Jean Smith Mincy of Monticello; sister Kristy Lopez of Monticello; nephew Daniel Lopez of Monticello; grandparents Gene and Minnie Lee Smith and Grethel Mincy, all of Monticello; aunts and uncles Nancy Jo Biles of Jackson, Linda Thompson of Greensboro, Jerry Mincy of Flovilla, Russell Mincy of Monticello, Gary Mincy of Lawrenceville; a number of cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, at New Rocky Creek Baptist Church, with the Rev. Randy Reese officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Ken Jackson, Walter Rabon, Ken Richardson, Sammy Smith, Dwayne Smith and Ken Mason Jr.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Oct. 3, at New Rocky Creek Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to New Rocky Creek Baptist Church, for the Family Life Center, 190 Rocky Creek Road, Mansfield, 30055.
