Mrs. Joyce Pratt Hopkins died Jan. 16. She was preceded

in death by her husband Dr. Charles Thomas Hopkins Sr. The daughter of Parks Winfield Pratt and Emma Thomson Pratt, she was born in Macon in 1924 and raised in Covington. A graduate of Auburn University where she was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority, she moved to Griffin in 1950 to teach the first graduating class of Spalding County High School. Mrs. Hopkins was a member of the Griffin First United Methodist Church where she participated in the Joy Class, the 17th Century Colonial Dames, Daughters of American Revolution and Monday and Thursday bridge clubs. She was a former member of the Wisteria Garden Club and the Griffin Utility Club.

Surviving are children Dr. and Mrs. Tommy Hopkins (Sara) of Griffin, Mrs. Lisa Hopkins Teat (Dr. Daniel W.) of Madison, Miss., Mr. and Mrs. Phillip W. Hopkins (Lisa) of Griffin, Mrs. Jean Hopkins Duncan (Douglas R.) of Augusta; grandchildren Corey Teat, Chase and Paige Hopkins, Corley and Jeff Hopkins, Tripp, Charlie and Molly Duncan; siblings Mr. Hugh Pratt (Carolyn) of Augusta, Mrs. George W. Poss (Sonny and Anne) of Thomson, Mrs. Sarah P. Moore of Covington, Mr. and Mrs. P.W. Pratt Jr. (Sonny and Carole) also of Covington; special friends Odessa Akine, Sonny Hawthorne of Griffin. She was preceded in death by brothers William Albert Pratt and James Donald Pratt and sister Mrs. Doris Pratt Kirkland.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today, Jan. 18, at Griffin First United Methodist Church. Pall bearers will be Niles Murray, Kevin Huckaby, Hal Johnson, Alan McRae, Tim Furlow, Waldo Floyd and Don King.
