John F. Gillman Sr.

John F. Gillman Sr., 62, of Conyers, died Aug. 2. The son of the late Joe and Cordie Lou Wilbanks Billman, he was born in Newton County. Mr. Gillman served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam in 1967. He retired from BellSouth after 33 years of service and was a member of the CWA Local 3205. Mr. Gillman was of the Baptist faith and loved hunting, fishing, traveling, gardening and, most of all, spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by brother Oliver Gillman.

Surviving are wife Glenda Gillman of Conyers; daughters Mary Gilllman of Atlanta, Lisa Gillman of Conyers; son John F. Gillman Jr. of Conyers; grandchildren Laura Watkins, Crystal Watkins, Dusty Smith, Jasmine G. Gillman-Basila; sister Juanita Padgett of Chattanooga, Tenn.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Aug. 4 in the chapel of Caldwell & Cowan with the Rev. James A. Moore officiating. Interment followed at Antioch Baptist Cemetery in Morgan County.
