Jackie M. Rogers, 49, of Covington, died Aug. 24 at Heartland Hospice. Mrs. Rogers was a member of Led by the Spirit Mission in Porterdale and enjoyed going on cruises and spending time with her grandchildren. She worked with the Newton County School System for 12 years and developed strong, lasting friendships with her co-workers. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend and was very considerate of others. She was preceded in death by mother Ruby Jessie Shubert Watson and step-sister Elaine Brown.
Surviving are daughter Jamie Lynn of Covington; son Tommy Rogers of Covington; grandchildren Jessie Webb, Juleigh Lynn, Dylan Lynn, Christian Rogers; father and step-mother Junior and Mary Watson of Decatur; step-sister Julie Brown of Grayson; step-brother Gene Brown of Loganville; best friend Rick Rogers of Covington; boyfriend Charlie Goss of Covington.
Funeral services were held Aug. 26 in the Access Road chapel of Caldwell & Cowan with Pastor Barney Johnson officiating. Interment followed at Lawnwood Memorial Park. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1684 Barnett Shoals Road, Athens, Ga. 30605.
