Mr. Jack Lamar Atkins Sr., 74, of Covington, died Sept. 20. The son of the late Luther Atkins and Florence Brock Atkins, he was born in 1932 in Griffin. Mr. Atkins proudly served our country in the United States Army. She was a self-employed carpet installer and a member of Zion Baptist Church and the Emanuel Sunday school class. Mr. Atkins was preceded in death by wife Dorothy Atkins.

Surviving are daughter and son-in-law Angela and Joel Bratcher of Covington; son and daughter-in-law Jay and Davida Atkins of Covington; brothers George Atkins of Fort Worth, Texas, and Larry Atkins of Fairburn; sister Grace Wasson of McDonough; grandchildren Jadie, Daniel, Jordan, Summer, Delaney, Jax, Dakota and Crystal.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Sept. 23, at Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Reese Sanders officiating. Interment will follow in Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
