Imogene McDonald Hays

Mrs. Imogene McDonald Hays, 85, of Mansfield, died July 13 at Emory Hospital. The daughter of the late R.W. and Exie Kitchens McDonald, she was born in Newton County. She was preceded in death by husband of 47 years Mr. Fred Banks Hays. Mrs. Hays attended the University of Georgia and was a lifelong member of Mansfield United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling, gardening and cooking and was famous for her chocolate pound cakes and pecan pies. She worked for many years at Hays Truck and Tractor Company in Mansfield as secretary and bookkeeper. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and was strong in her Christian faith.

Surviving are son and daughter-in-law Byron and Nancy-Jo Hays and grandson Spencer Hays, all of Marietta, and several nieces, nephews and many close friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hays were held at 2 p.m. July 16 at Mansfield Baptist Church with the Rev. Doug Craver officiating. Interment will follow at Hays Family Cemetery.
