Idabelle Blanton King

Idabelle Blanton King, 82, a lifelong resident of West Newton County, died April 11. Mrs. King was a stay-at-home mom, resigning her job at the birth of her first child.

She was very active in the Bethany Presbyterian Church at Livingston School, where her two children attended. King taught the children's class for 20 years and taught in vacation bible school during that same period. She served as secretary-treasurer for the Presbyterian Women at Bethany for 15 years. She was presented with the Presbyterian Women Life Membership Award in 2000.

She is survived by husband, Robert (Bob) King-they recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary-daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Donald Smith of Covington and son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Vickie King of Alpharetta; four grandchildren, Jessica Smith, Katie Smith, Turner King and Madison King.

Funeral services for Mrs. King will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 13 at Bethany Presbyterian Church, 1002 Bethany Road, Covington with the Rev. Russell O. McKee officiating. Burial will follow at the Bethany Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or contributions can be made in her memory to Bethany Presbyterian Church or to Heartland Hospice, 1374 Manchester Drive, Conyers, Ga. 30012.
