OXFORD - Oxford College's Chad Hixon, in a more than well deserved nod toward his basketball statistical achievements last season, has been recognized by the NJCAA as a preseason First Team All-American.
Hixon leads all returning NJCAA basketball players in scoring average and is a close second in rebound average.
Hixon helped carry the Eagles to the NJCAA version of the Round of 32 in 2006-2007 along with Malick Valliani, currently a member of the Emory University Eagles, and Maquan Mapps, who was offered a scholarship by the Division II Clark Atlanta University Panthers.
With a scoring average of 21.9 points per game and a rebound average of 12.7, Hixon accomplished a truly rare feat at the guard position in college basketball, that of the coveted "double-double."
Hixon led Oxford College to the Inter-Region X/XVII Championship game against Catawba Community College, who eventually advanced to the District X Championship game by defeating Oxford 81-62.
Hixon led all players in points and rebounds during the Inter-Region Championship game, scoring 26 points and hauling in 14 rebounds.
