Gary Lamar Jones

Mr. Gary Lamar Jones died March 30. The son of Doris Jones and Gary Thompson, he was born in 1979 in Vineland, N.J. Affectionately called "G," Mr. Jones was raised and educated in Rosenhayn, N.J., graduating from Cumberland Regional High School. He played both basketball and football during high school. He attended Cumberland College and Rowan College, majoring in business administration. He became a model for Jo Anderson Models and Talent Agency, N.J. He worked for the Salem County Elementary School as a teacher's assistant and for the Cerebral Palsy Agency. He moved to Covington and worked as a corrections officer at Jackson Prison. He was currently employed by Red Lobster, Conyers. He was a faithful member of Springfield Baptist Church and participated in the church choir and the single's ministry. Mr. Jones was an amateur boxer, had a good sense of humor and was encouraging to others, promoting the gospel. He will be remembered for his smile, personality and great hugs.

Surviving are mother Ms. Doris Jones; father Mr. Joseph Gary Thompson; brothers Joseph Jones, Terrance Jones, Sharrod Jones, Lequint Allen, Alex Carter, Antoine Thompson; sisters Alexis Carter, Trinitee Thompson; grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Arthur (Annie) Sampson, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth (Alberta Thompson) Pierce, Mr. Gary Thompson; great-grandmothers Mrs. Sarah Mae Sampson, Mrs. Annabelle Scarbrough; aunts Aretha (Alex) Moses, Stephanie (David) Channell, Sarah Thompson; uncles Jacob Thompson, Steven Thompson; two nieces; one nephew; best friends Alvin and Destin; other loving relatives and dear friends.

A memorial service was held at 7 p.m. April 3 at Spring Baptist Church with Pastor Eric W. Lee Sr. officiating. Funeral services were held in Bridgeton, N.J., April 5 with the Rev. Eric W. Lee Sr. officiating.
