Freda Catherine Snellgrove, 87, of Conyers died July 11 at Riverside Health Care. Born on Jan. 14, 1921 in Birmingham, Ala., she was the daughter of the late Ornan J. Stokes and Catherine Mize Stokes. She was a resident of Conyers for 41 years and was the owner of Snellgrove Auto Electric. She was a member of Conyers Church of God where she was involved in the youth programs. Mrs. Snellgrove loved her nine children and spending time with them and she also loved to read, watch Braves games and NASCAR. She was preceded in death by her husband Brady Alvin Snellgrove, who died in 1973, daughter Marie Smith, grandchildren Brady Lee Snellgrove and Lisa Jean Thomas.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law Alvin and Brenda Snellgrove of Oxford, son Norman Snellgrove of Conyers, son Paul Snellgrove of Conyers, daughter Reba Thomas of Oxford, daughter and son-in-law Merle and Jimmy Kitchens of Conyers, son Brady Snellgrove Jr. of Social Circle, daughter and son-in-law Martha Jo and Mike White of Conyers, son and daughter-in-law Steve and Susan Snellgrove of Conyers; son-in-law I.J. Smith of Covington; 22 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on July 14 in the chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home with Brother Ed Brumlow and Brother James Hall officiating. Interment will be in Green Meadow Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.
