The Covington Fire Department is currently investigating the fire which destroyed most of C. B. Auto Sales' main building early last week.

"The fires is still under investigation, but it is apparently might have been intentionally set," said CFD Chief Don Floyd.

A neighbor reported the fire to the CFD at 11:26 p.m. Oct. 1, Floyd said. The fire destroyed most of the inside of the building, including several files and vehicle titles, said Carol Buice, whose family owns the dealership.

"The keys were inside too and burned, but we were able to save them and our computer with most of the records," Buice said.

Two cars in the back lot were also reportedly damaged by debris from the building. The burned out building has been condemned and will soon be bulldozed.

The Georgia Arson Control Program is offering as much as $10,000 as a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the fire. To report tips to the GACP, please call (800) 282-5804.

C.B. Auto Sales has relocated to 10945 Ga. Highway 278. Buice said the company was in the process of informing all customers of the move. C. B. Auto Sales can be reached at (770) 385-5409.
