The Covington Police 24th annual "Fuzz Run" begins at 8 a.m. on September 8 at the Covington Police Department.

The race includes two events, starting with the "Fun Run" at 8 a.m. followed by the 5K at 8:30 a.m. In fact, it has been voted the best 5K in Georgia for the past four years.

There are 16 different age groups, giving each runner an equal opportunity.

Ribbons will be presented to all participants in the one-mile "Fun Run," as well as awards to first, second and third place male and female runners under 12.

For the 5K, several awards will be granted to the overall first place male and female runners, including masters, grand masters and awards for the top three places in each age group. In addition, cash awards will be given to the overall masters and grand masters winners.

Each participant will receive a top quality short sleeve race shirt (guaranteed to pre-registered runners only). Prizes include unique police trophies and 100 other great door prizes.

Proceeds from the race will benefit the "Police Who Care" fund.

The course includes runs through scenic downtown Covington, and is well marked, supervised and certified, with splits each mile and water available near the one-mile and two-mile spots, including the finish line.

The event will be professionally timed by Classic Race Services.

Pre-registration, which costs $13, must be postmarked by September 1. Race day registration is $16. There is also a family pack, which includes four for $45 (pre-registration and families only).

All registration fees are non-refundable. Mail early registration to: Covington Police Department, 1143 Oak Street, Covington, Georgia 30014. Make checks payable to Police Who Care.

To register online, visit the Web site at www.active.com or www.covingtonpolice.com.
