Charles "Dick" Schwinne, 76, of Covington, died Oct. 7. He was born in Columbus, Ohio, and retired from the United States Air Force after 24 years of service and from the Atlanta Federal Penitentiary after 11 years of Service. Mr. Schwinne enjoyed traveling and meeting people and loved Ohio State and following the Atlanta Braves. Most important, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many. He was preceded in death by parents Charles Albert and Mary Minerva Wiener Schwinne and wife Angela Mary Parrish Schwinne.
Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law Sharon and Larry Newkam of Suwanee, Susan and Mark Zielenske of Covington; son Paul Schwinne of Peachtree City; grandchildren Melissa, Kevin, Lisa, Michael, Allison and Megan; brother and Sister-in-law Carl and Neva Schwinne of Stone Mountain, best friend and soul mate Katherine Pickett; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Oct. 9 at the chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, with interment following at Hillandale Memorial Park, Lithonia.
