Buck Vine "Sam" Hardeman

Mr. Buck Vine "Sam' Hardeman died Jan. 31 at DeKalb Medical Center. The son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Johnny (Ollie Thompson) Hardeman, he was born in 1940 in Newton County. He joined Early Hope Baptist Church at an early age, attended public schools and retired from Burch Lowe. He then began his own career in roofing. He and first wife Annette Belcher had 10 children; he and second wife Brenda Harris shared three children. Mr. Hardeman was a devoted father and was known for his humorous acts and story telling. He was preceded in death by siblings Margaret Moody and Robin, Marvin and Curtis Hardeman.

Surviving are sons Lee Marvin, Dwayne, Samuel, Johnny, Frederick and Deidric Hardeman; daughters Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Ray (Bonnie) Thrasher, Ms. Connie Hudson, Mr. and Mrs. Richard (Eufreida) James, Mr. and Mrs. Jarvis (Victoria) Andrews, Mr. and Mrs. Alvarez (Elaine) Thomas, Ms. Crystal Hardeman, Ms. Sherry Ann Belcher; siblings Mr. and Mrs. Rufus (Sarah) Grant, Mr. Wayne Hardeman, Mr. and Mrs. Rylie (Sarah) Hardeman, Ms. Mel Annie Mitchell, Mr. and Mrs. Lorenzo (Johnnie) Henderson, Ms. Peggy Huckabee; 25 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Feb. 4 at Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Hutchinson officiating. Interment followed at Flat Shoals Cemetery, Covington.
