Mr. Artis Lamar Bailey died Sept. 5. The son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Dean (Dorothy Mae) Bailey, he was born in 1960. He graduated from Newton County School in 1978 and served in the U.S. Navy, receiving a medical discharge. He loved cars, motorcycles and basketball. Mr. Bailey was a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church, attending when his health allowed. He was preceded in death by his sister Kathy Marie Bailey.

Surviving are mother Mrs. Dorothy Mae Bailey; son Mr. and Mrs. Demitris (Connie) Bailey; grandchildren Taylor Bailey, Matthew Bailey, Kayla Bailey, Katelyn Bailey, Blake Smith, Victoria Smith, Jacob Young, Drake Young; brothers Mr. James C. Ridley, Mr. Charles E. Bailey, Mr. and Mrs. Anderson (Angela) Bailey, all of Covington, Mr. and Mrs. Freddie (Lisa) Sherman of Thomasville; sisters Ms. Teresa B. Bailey, Ms. Vicie A. Bailey, of Covington; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. at Sept. 8 at St. Paul A.M.E. Church with the Rev. Thomas Stegall officiating. Interment followed at Macedonia Church Cemetery.
