The Alcovy varsity baseball team, though young, will rely on a vast amount of returning sophomores this season.
Led by head coach Joe Mobley, the Tigers are hoping to make some noise in Region 8-AAAA.
But in order for them to turn around a 4-22 record from one year ago, their success on the diamond will ultimately determine their fate. How far the second-year program will go this season still remains questionable.
Alcovy infielders include first basemen Cody Bala, Richard Nash, Beau Thomas, second basemen Bryan Daniel and Taylor Jackson, shortstop Ellis Fanning, third baseman Jimmy Ingram and utility infielder Jon Pollard.
Daniel and Jackson will also share time behind the plate as catcher.
Outfielders include Michael Aventurato, Cole Loggins, Ross Roberts and Thomas.
On the hill, the starting rotation will also include Thomas, Aventurato, Bala and Pollard. Fanning and Jackson will assist with relief duties.
Alcovy will visit Rockdale County at 5:30 p.m. Monday.
