Albert Shannon

Albert Shannon, 65, of Covington, died Aug. 13 at Rockdale Medical Center. The son of the late Herschel and Julia Powers Shannon, he lived in Newton County most of his life and recently opened Shannon Trucking Company. Mr. Shannon enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles and going to the Music Barn and loved being with his family. A member of Living Waters Baptist Church, he attended Central Community Church. Mr. Shannon was preceded in death by his son-in-law Brent Bates.

Surviving are children Dianne Hughes, Timothy and Martha Lynn Shannon, Tina and Dale Clark, Karen and Thomas Clark, Wendy Bates, all of Covington, Darlene Shannon of Jacksonville, Fla.; 24 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law Dorothy and James Jenkins, Donna and Jimmy Monk, Judy Holloway, all of Covington; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Aug. 15, in the Access Road chapel of Caldwell & Cowan with the Rev. Darrell Allen officiating. Interment followed in Lawnwood Memorial Park.
