It might not be upstate New York, but this week, Olde Town Conyers is the new setting for the Fox television series, Sleepy Hollow. The cast and crew kicked off the first day of filming for season three Tuesday.

There were no road closures in Olde Town during the filming at 924 N. Main Street, though a lane on Peek Street was closed to give production vehicles a place to park off of Main Street. Conyers Police and Rockdale County Sheriff's personnel were on hand to direct traffic on Main Street as needed. Parking space in Conyers Presbyterian and  Conyers First United Methodist was also used for the production.

A thriller series set in colonial New York State, "Sleepy Hollow" is a modern re-imagining of the Washington Irving story about Icabod Crane and The Headless Horseman. It stars Tom Mison, Nichole Beharie and Orlando Jones.

Conyers Rockdale Economic Development Council officials previously estimated "Sleepy Hollow" would bring about 300 jobs - most of them new and local - with a $4 million payroll in two rented spaces totaling around 200,000 square feet.

"Sleepy Hollow" will join the vampire drama "The Originals" as another supernatural TV hit headquartered in Conyers. "The Originals" has pumped millions of dollars into the local economy, according to CREDC.
