Springfield Baptist Church is hosting a food distribution event to help families in need this Saturday, Aug. 17.

The last day to register for the event is Thursday between 11am and 6pm at the Springfield Activity Center located behind the church's worship center at 1877 Iris Drive.

Registration will continue until the allotted amount of food is exhausted prior to distribution set for 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Recipients must be present and show identification when registering.

The Resource Center for Community Action will host a mobile food pantry to assist local families in need next Friday, Aug. 23.

The organization will provide free food while quantities last between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. at the Cooperative Extension Building located at 1400 Parker Road. There will also be 10 sets of patio furniture given away during the event.
