Grant Douglas Simerly, age 10 of Conyers, died Saturday, August 6, 2011 surrounded by his family. He was the beloved son of Keith Simerly of Conyers and Sandra Simerly of Covington. He is also survived by grandparents, Bill and Caroline Simerly of Conyers, David and Phyllis Miller of Morganton, NC; sister, Taylor Simerly of Covington; aunts, Amy and Richard LeCates of McDonough, Rosa Miller of Athens; uncles, Mark and Brittany Miller of Rising Fawn, Andrew and Erin Miller of Winder, Jason and Joy Miller of Bethlehem, Paul and Erin Miller of Denver, CO, Jonathan Rembert of Johnson City, TN, Michael Rembert of Erwin, TN, Billy and Inn Hee Simerly, of Fairburn, Michael and Carla Simerly of Richmond Hill, and several cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Holly Miller. Grant loved life. He liked sports especially basketball and wrestling and dreamed of being an NBA star one day. He was beautiful and bright with a winning personality and he loved being a helper to his teacher and classmates. He had a sweet, sweet spirit and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Grant was a student at Rocky Plains Elementary in Covington and a member of Rockdale Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at 4 p.m. at Scot Ward's Green Meadow Chapel with Pastors Billy Moss, Dwayne Jones, and Mark Miller officiating; interment will follow at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends from 2 until 4 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
