Discover Point Church has announced their newest staff addition, Director of Children’s Ministry Trista Ross. Ross brings a wealth of experience as an educator, church preschool director and stay at home mom. She and her husband, Jeremy are the proud parents of two little girls, Hayden and Layne.

Ross and her family are excited about joining such a vibrant community. "When we visited, the first thing that I noticed about Discover Point Church was how real, genuine and friendly everyone was," she said. "They were so welcoming and made us feel right at home and comfortable. The other thing that I fell in love with at Discover Point was their relevant approach to reaching people and meeting them where they are in life. From the upbeat music, to the relaxed environment, to the young family oriented population, we just felt like it was a perfect fit from day one."

Trista’s passion for children and their faith is obvious. "I’d like to help equip parents to work alongside the church to raise children who know, love and serve Christ."

Ross will direct Discover Kids City for children from birth through fifth grade. The programs involve stories, lessons and activities. School aged children will enjoy an additional interactive entertainment and teaching component. When they are accompanied by their parents, everyone learns key principles of faith. Parent training seminars and visitations will supplement the children’s programs.

Trista joins a team of ministers who strive to meet the growing needs of a contemporary, high tech world. Web site visitors will notice the wealth and variety of media available through podcasts, blogs, Facebook and Twitter.

Of course, if you want to meet Trista or any other staff member out and about, you can see them at the Georgia International Horse Park’s Fabulous Fourth Festival on Saturday, July 4. Discover Point will have a booth right in front of the stage in the Grand Prix Plaza. If you visit them, you will enjoy complimentary family photos, cooling mist and a round of Plinko.

Future plans for "Hollywood Theater," and Sunday night "Kids Jamm" can be found at the church’s Web site, www.discoverpoint.org. Located on 1303 Parker Road in the old Progressive Lighting Store, everyone is invited to come when the doors open at 10 a.m. and grab a cup of coffee at Java Point. Services start at 10:30. a.m.
