Rockdale deputies received a call around 10 a.m. of an armed robbery at a residence off Golfview Terrace, near Salem Road, according to RCSO Investigator Michael Camp. "A lookout was given for a tan Lincoln town car," he said.

Deputies spotted a vehicle matching the description of the suspect's car on Interstate 20 westbound near Sigman Road. As they pulled up behind the car, it sped off, leading the deputies on a chase into DeKalb county.

The suspect vehicle then exited on Evans Mill Road, near Hillandale, and pulled into the Windward Forest Apartment complex.

The suspect then got out of the car, carrying a gun. Shots were reportedly fired and deputies believe the suspect was hit in the leg, acccording to Camp.

The supsect dropped the gun but continued fleeing on foot. He is described as a thin black male, about 5-foot 8-inches tall, wearing a grey shirt and blue jeans, bleeding from the leg.

A manhunt is underway in the area, which has several adjacent apartment complexes, with deputies and K-9 units from DeKalb, Rockdale, and helicopters from DeKalb law enforcement as well.

No deputies were reported injured.
