Mr. Victor Johnson, 84, a lifelong resident of Covington died August 26, 2009.  He was born September 12, 1924 to the late Allen Victor and Martha Doster Johnson in Newton County.  Mr. Johnson was a graduate from Covington High School and attended North Georgia College; he was a member of Covington First United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Christian Sunday School Class.  He was a retired Rural Letter Carrier, retiring after many years of service from the Covington Post Office and was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.  Mr. Johnson served proudly in the United States Navy serving in the pacific on the USS Swearer.  He was preceded in death by his brother Mr. Kenneth Doster Johnson.  Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife Mrs. Charlotte Johnson and son and daughter-in-law Vince and Laurin Johnson of Covington and two nephews.   Funeral services for Mr. Johnson will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 30, 2009 at Covington First United Methodist Church with the Reverend Doctor Douglas Gilreath and Reverend Sanford McDonald officiating, members of the Fitness Forum and members of the Christian Fellowship Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.  Interment will be at Covington City Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00PM until 7:00PM on Friday, August 28, 2009.  Those desiring may make donations to Covington First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund 1113 Church Street, Covington, GA 30014 or your favorite charity.  Friends may sign the online register book at www.wheelerfuneralhome.com.
