Sara Ruth Townley, 87, of Covington died Jan. 4. Mrs. Townley was a charter member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church and served as the church pianist for 27 years. She was the daughter of the late Clyde and Edna Reagan Head and the widow of John Roger Townley. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.

Surviving are her sons, Sidney Denny of Conyers, Damon Townley of Covington; daughters, Ramona Prince of Byron and Toreitha Carter of Rutledge; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7 at the Walnut Grove Baptist Church with the remains placed in state at 10 a.m. The Rev. James West, the Rev. Herman Goddard and the Rev. Kenny Dawkins will officiate. Interment will follow at the Sardis Congregational Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Henry Funeral Home in Social Circle.
