Polly Beam, 89, of Porterdale, passed away Nov. 20. The daughter of the late Edgar and Gracie Curley Frey, she was born in Dallas and has resided in Newton County since 1959. She was a member of Gaither’s United Methodist Church. Ms. Beam was a loving mother, and will be missed by her family and friends.

Ms. Beam is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Lynnette Mills, Elaine Conley, both of Porterdale, Jimmie Carolyn and Loring Burgess, Claudette and Jimmy Coady all of Covington, Joan and Dallas Mitchell of Williamsburg, Va.; sons and daughters-in-law Mac and Ann Young of Covington, Earl and Frita Young, Thomas Beam Jr., all of Porterdale; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sisters Barbara Jewell Williams of Mableton, Louise Peters of Kentucky (deceased).

Funeral services for Ms. Beam will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, at the chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with the Rev. Dennis Whitley officiating, and interment following in New Covington Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25.
