       Mr. Richard Lee Jefferies, Jr. was born on December 22, 1950 to Mrs. Mattie Jefferies Henderson and the late Mr. Richard Lee Jefferies, Sr. (Moon) in Jasper County.

      Richard attended R. L. Cousins High School. After graduation, he met and married Ms. Patricia Broughton. Soon afterwards, he began his service career. Richard served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War; then, he made a career in the U.S. Navy as a First Class Petty Officer. He was a beloved worker who was currently employed at the Waffle House.

    He departed this life on December 10, 2014. He was preceded in death by his father and step-father, Mr. Willie Gene Henderson.

    Richard is survived by his wife, Mrs. Patricia B. Jefferies of 41 years, two sons, Mr. Richard Lee Jefferies, III and Mr. & Mrs. Jermaine (Mariah) Jefferies, one daughter, Ms. Starria Patrice Jefferies, Mother, Mrs. Mattie Jefferies Henderson; one grandson, Ja'zir Mitchell, siblings: Mr. & Mrs. George (Patricia) Jefferies, Mr. Charlie Jefferies, Mr. & Mrs. Jerome (Carolyn) Jefferies, Mr. & Mrs. Calvin (Virginia) Glover, Mr. & Mrs. Timmy (Petra) Glover, Mr. & Mrs. Reggie (Terlisha) Jefferies, Ms. Patricia Thrasher, Mr. & Mrs. Eddie (Sharon) Woods, Ms. Linda Jenkins and Ms. Brenda Jenkins; one brother-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Michael (Tina) Broughton; one sister-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Clyde (Deborah)  Turk;  and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
