Marguerite Mobley Johnson passed away November 8, 2014 at Serenity Hospice in Dublin, GA. Born April 9, 1932, the middle daughter of Lucy and Audley Mobley of Covington, she married Fred Lanier Johnson in 1949.

She worked as a switchboard operator for Southern Bell and then became a beautician, owning and operating Marguerite’s Beauty Shop in Madison. She was actively involved in many groups including Prime Timers, Red Hatters, and charter member of Boxwood Garden Club. She loved her weekly bridge game with friends. She was instrumental in building the original membership of Madison/Morgan Cultural Center.

She was a member of Madison First United Methodist Church. Cooking, entertaining, and traveling were her favorite activities. She is survived by sister, Elsie Sigman; sons, Mike Johnson (Emily) of Roswell, Guy Johnson (Sheri) of Bishop, and Chris Johnson (Shari) of Dublin; seven grandchildren, Steven (Joanna), Jake, Jonathan (Kayla), Aimee, Trent, Cole, and Erin; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation was Monday, Nov. 10, 2014 from 4-7 pm at Carter Funeral Home in Madison. Pastors Grady Mobley and Lane Jenkins officiated at the funeral at Madison First United Methodist on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014 at 11 p.m. In lieu of flowers gifts can be made to Madison First United Methodist Church for New Covenant Sunday school fund.
