City of Jackson Police Lt. Shane Stephens, age 41, of Jenkinsburg passed away Thursday, March 28, 2019 at Piedmont Henry Medical Center after a brief illness. Shane was born in Lagrange on Thursday, March 16, 1978 to the late Randall Vernon Stephens and Sandra Jean Rigdon Stephens Hawkins. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church but also attended Rock Springs Church. Shane's greatest passion was his job. Shane also enjoyed hunting, golfing, traveling and riding motorcycles.

In addition to his mother, Shane is survived by his sons, Aaron Stephens and Noah Stephens; sister, Calla Hawkins; brothers, Ryan Stephens, Jake Hawkins, Luke Hawkins; fiance, Leslie Coppock; niece and nephews, Hannah, Dylan, Oliver and Ian.

A funeral service for Lt. Shane Stephens was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 31 at Macedonia Baptist Church with Mr. Ralph Wilson and Chief James Morgan officiating. Interment followed in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends at the church Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. Flowers will be accepted, however those desiring may make a memorial contribution to the Georgia Peace Officers Association, Post Office Box 1040, Reidsville, GA 30453, https://poag.org.
