Donald W. Steele, 74, passed away at his residence in Covington, February 16, 2011.  Son of the late Dewey Watson and Margaret McCart Steele, he was a member of High Point Baptist Church.  Mr. Steele retired as Director of the Georgia Revenue Department after more than 34 years of service.  He enjoyed singing with the Conyers-Covington Choral Guild, and loved his wood working.  Mr. Steele was devoted to his wife, daughters, grandchildren, great-grandson, and his church family.

 

Mr. Steele is survived by his wife of 24 years, Leslie Steele of Covington; daughters and son-in-law, Carol Steele Hagan of Dallas, GA; Shelly and Ken Maughon of Eatonton, Cami Trusty of Covington; 6 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; sisters and brother-in-law, Barbara Cargile of Covington, Cindy and Bill Hearn of Lilburn, as well as  several nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

Funeral Services for Mr. Steele will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 19, 2010, at High Point Baptist Church, with Dr. Huey Perry officiating, and interment following in High Point Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Friday, February 18, from 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 P.M.  Flowers are accepted or memorial donations may be made to High Point Baptist Church Youth Fund, 12025 Highway 36, Covington, GA  30014.
