Donald Glen Bollinger loved to tell stories. Until his death on September 21, 2015, at age 87 while at home after an extended illness, he regaled family, friends and caregivers with stories of experiences and adventures.

His story began in Frisco, Pennsylvania, the youngest of nine children of James Burton Bollinger and Lyda Ellen (McKenna) Bollinger. He attended local schools and advanced from lab technician to plant manager of a chemical manufacturing division of Mobil Oil Corporation. In 1972 he moved to Covington to open and manage a new facility. After early retirement, he appraised property for the Newton County Tax Office and then supervised construction of schools and the Lake Varner Reservoir for the Newton County Commissioner, Roy Varner, earning a special award for meritorious service.

Don was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Covington, serving as elder and of Rotary International, serving as president. Always interested in innovation, in 1978 he designed and built a solar heating panel for the family swimming pool. His hobby was video recording and editing. The hundreds of VHS tapes and DVDs of concerts, events and celebrations that he produced are treasured by all.

Don is survived by Mary (Eckhart) Bollinger, his devoted wife of 62 years; daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Keith Jude of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina; son Blair Bollinger of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; grandchildren Amelia Jude, Stewart Jude, Robyn Bollinger and Nicholas Bollinger; and nieces Rausa (Eckhart) Roscinski and Ann (Eckhart) Johnson.

Memorial contributions will be gratefully received at First Presbyterian Church of Covington, 1169 Clark St, Covington GA 30014 or Abbey Hospice Foundation, 215 Azalea Court, Social Circle, GA 30025.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 3, 2015, at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Covington with Rev. Dr. William B. Wade, Jr. officiating. The family will receive guests at a Memorial Reception following the service.
