Smith Mrs. Deborah Susan Estes Smith (Debbie) age 55 of Covington died June 19, 2009 at Heartland Hospice in Conyers. Debbie was born in Griffin, Ga. to James H. & Barbara Gardner Estes, who survive her. She was a graduate of Griffin High School Class of 1972. Debbie loved quilting. She made hundreds of quilts giving them away to family and friends. She was the co-founder of Sew-N-Sews quilting group at Mansfield Baptist Church, a place she dearly loved. She was the director of the 3 R’s at her church and was a member of the Upper Room Sunday School Class. She loved to go camping with her family. She was an avid reader and loved doing puzzle books. She also participated in Relay For Life. Debbie is survived by her husband of 35 years Marion (Allen) Smith of Covington, her daughter Jessica Smith of Mt. Vernon, New York, son and daughter in law Brian and Amanda Smith of Oxford, sister Connie Owens of Pace, FL., brother and sister in law Mike and Sandy Estes of Macon, father in law Marion Smith of Hochston, sisters in law Jan and Carl Britt of Hochston, Tina Smith of Atlanta, brother in law Scott Smith of Atlanta, 6 nieces, 3 nephews and 1 great nephew. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday June 23, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Mansfield Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Perkins officiating.  The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 to 9 pm at the church. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to Mansfield Baptist Church 3 R’s at 101 Woodlawn Road, Mansfield, Ga. 30055. Harwell-Wheeler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
