Charles “Gary” Fincher, 75, of Covington, passed away Friday, Feb. 23, 2018, at home after a brief illness.

He was born Feb. 20, 1943, in Porterdale. He is preceded in death by his father, Terrell Fincher; mother, Lois Burney Edwards; and sister, Dawn Edwards.

Gary is survived by his wife of 38 years, Pamela Gloer Fincher; son, Scot Fincher, of East Point; daughter and son-in-law, Paige Fincher Gorman and Chris Gorman, of Cumming; grandchildren, Logan, Avery, Charlie and Kara Gorman, of Cumming; sisters, Gail and Phil Owens and Huanne Bridges, of Covington. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Gary was a pipefitter by trade and an active member of Local Union 72 for more than 35 years. He was an avid fisherman and hunter (having harvested 189 deer over his lifetime). A very active leader in our community, Gary belonged to the Masonic Fraternities: Ancient York 127 Lodge, Shady Dale 200 and Y.A. Wright Lodge. He was a Member of Eastridge Community Church, Lake Jackson Campus. He was known for his “famous” Brunswick stew at community barbecue events and will be greatly missed by so many.

There will be a Celebration of Life service on Saturday, March 3, with visitation from 1 to 3 p.m. and the service immediately following at Eastridge Community Church, Covington Campus, 683 Highway 142 E., Covington, GA 30014. Pastors Gary Thompson and Ed Westbrook will be officiating.
