Al Cordell, 81, of Covington, died Oct. 10. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Cordell was a member of the Porterdale Moose Club and Julia A. Porter United Methodist Church. Mr. Cordell enjoyed playing golf, but most important to him was his family. He was preceded in death by parents John and Lillie Hilliard Cordell; brother John “Rookie” Cordell; sister Imogene “Jean’ Shuford.
Surviving are wife of 12 years Hazel Cordell; sons and daughters-in-law Alfred “Tony” and June Kirkland Cordell Jr. of Roswell, Richard “Ricky” and Karen Newton Cordell of Covington, Timothy Lane and Tammy Dee Maria Rosso Cordell of Woodstock; grandchildren Warren Keith Cordell, Elizabeth lane Cordell, Hannah Fay Maria Cordell, Amber Cordell Fleming and husband Casey, April Nicole Cordell; great-grandchildren Austin Jackson, Jordan Evans; sister and brother-in-law Mrs. Jimmy (Betty) Edwards of Covington; brother James “Bo” Cordell of Covington; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Oct. 12, in the Access Road chapel of Caldwell & Cowan with the Rev. James Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Lawnwood memorial park. Online condolences may be placed at www.caldwellandcowan.com.
