Charles Hill Morris Jr., publisher of The Covington News, is pleased to announce the hiring of Tracy Batye to the newly created position of director of online marketing.

"I have lived in Covington for 16 years and I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to join The Covington News family and to work with local businesses to help them with their online advertising needs," Batye said.

Bayte has extensive experience in this field having worked for the AJC as well as Creative Loafing, an alternative Atlanta newspaper focusing on entertainment.

"The future of community newspapering is strong and will continue to get stronger," said T. Pat Cavanaugh, general manager of The News, "but in order to keep pace, the community paper will need a strong Web site as its partner."

Bayte will be working with Tyler Smith, who is director of creative arts and the web master for The News.
