Staff errors complicate voting in DeKalb County

DECATUR, Ga. (AP) — Elections officials say staff errors in DeKalb County led to some voters having to use paper ballots.

WSB-TV reports (http://bit.ly/10j8dTK ) some voters at the New Life Community Center had to use paper ballots Tuesday because the machine that checks voters in was programmed for another location and had incorrect candidate names.

Elections Director Maxine Daniels says voters at the Kelly Chapel United Methodist Church also had to use paper ballots because the precinct manager forgot electronic voting cards at home.

Daniels says the machines were working properly and human error led to the problems despite extensive training. Daniels says she's planning more training for future elections.

DeKalb Elections officials say polls at the Church of Christ of Bouldercrest will be open until 7:15 p.m. because voting there started late.
