LEESBURG, Ga. (AP) — The former head of a southwest Georgia substance abuse rehabilitation facility has been charged with stealing more than $26,000.

Kenny Phillips is charged with theft by taking from the facility, called the Anchorage. He's been released on bond from the Lee County jail.

The Albany herald reports (http://bit.ly/plnhGs ) that Sky Martin, chairman of the board of the Anchorage, said Thursday the funds Phillips is accused of stealing did not come from a donor account.

Phillips is accused of redirecting the money over a 48-month period for his own use.

His attorney, Pete Donaldson, says Phillips is cooperating with investigators but it's premature to say how the case will be resolved.
