ALBANY, Ga. (AP) — Friends and fans of Georgia's American Idol finalist will find out soon whether he can pull out a big win. Phillip Phillips, a 21-year-old singer from southwest Georgia, is one of two finalists. A winner will be named Wednesday night on the Fox TV show. The Albany Herald reports (http://bit.ly/JxvEQt) that hundreds of people gathered inside the Albany Civic Center Tuesday night to cheer on Phillips during the first night of the show's grand finale. There were screams and applause every time Phillips appeared on the screen. In nearby Leesburg, Phillips supplements his singing income by working at his family's pawn shop. The other finalist is 16-year-old pop singer Jessica Sanchez of San Diego.
