MARIETTA - Cobb County voters apparently have narrowly approved extending a local option sales tax.

With all 153 precincts reporting from Tuesday's election, officials say the penny tax was approved by a margin of 79 votes.

The results remain unofficial until certified by the elections board. Opponents say they're not conceding defeat.

If the unofficial outcome is certified, the extension is estimated to generate $492 million for parks, recreation and roads renovation and upgrade projects for Cobb County and its six cities through 2015.
