After 40 years of silence, the Wolverine Gym that was once home court for the old R.L. Cousins High School, today will again bustle with activity.

The Newton County Recreation Commission and Newton County Board of Commissioners will unveil the renovated gym on Geiger Street in a ceremony at 4:30 p.m.

The high school was closed in 1970 during desegregation of county schools. Its students the following year attended Newton County High School.

The recreation commission will manage the facility and it will be open for use by the community.
